The New Brighton Historical Society recently purchased the Irish -Townsend House, circa 1855, and plans to convert the former residence into the Society’s meeting place, historic display/museum, and event venue. The most recent use of the building was multi-family residential however the members of the Society have completed some demolition of walls/areas that were not original to the single-family house. The Historical Society hired Hancock Architecture to perform preliminary planning services including documentation of existing conditions, development of concept designs of the proposed exterior restoration, floor plan lay-outs indicating new spaces on the first and second floor for the new use of the building, and a building code review of applicable life/safety code and ADA. |
